Dispatch from Over Halfway

It’s the first day of fall and I turned 50 1/2 a little less than a month ago. I miss this space. There’s a lot that’s been on my mind, but here’s a quick peek:

(HarperCollins, Oct 15, 2024)
  • The Best Friend Bracelet, my third novel for kids comes out in less than a month!
  • According to my labs, it seems that I am “post menopausal” (if you’ve read my blog over the years, you know I said goodbye to my uterus nine years ago, so such things are harder to confirm!)
  • For the second time, I am considering divesting from being online in general and using most social media in particular. Honestly, I’m also over emailing and texting hence the “general” parts of being online, but social media is particularly detrimental. I’ve known it but haven’t acted on it as profoundly as I’m considering these days.
  • I just finished a proposal for what may one day become my fourth published novel (pending sale to a publisher), but perhaps my last in a while from my Mundane Era. I have Big Thoughts about things and am now more interested in Making Points with my art. So I do plan to start shifting in that direction. Publishing is an interesting industry and it moves very slowly, so any works from the new era are many years off. But it feels exciting to be thinking about it.

Each of these dots deserves its own post, but this is how I’m easing my way back to myself (again) and away from the mob.

That’s it from me. How are you?

  1. My friend,

So much to love about this post, but especially about you.

    1) I feel in excellent company knowing that we both celebrate our half birthdays! I turned 57 1/2 just under three weeks ago (smile). It must be a #pisces thing 😉

    2) Descriptions of your books, the characters, how they learn and grow, always make me smile from deep down in my soul. And that smile reaches not only my face, but my heart, too!

    3) Post-menopausal years are wonderfully creative. Delve deep into what stirs your spirit. Oh, and find the most skin-nourishing emollients you can to keep the skin on your entire body deeply moisturized and healthy. Even with proper internal hydration, our skin loses moisture easier now.

    4) Welcome to my world. I’m also over the phone, too. I’m at that place in life where real-world connections and interactions, and being with my thoughts and ideas and nature have place of primacy.

    5) Ooh!! I’m so looking forward to the Big Thoughts and Making Points phase!! Colour me intrigued as I cheer from the sidelines!!

    1. Love you. Always glad to see your comments. You and my girl Chele are always in my head when I’m posting, lol.
